With so many options for protein at your fingertips, the easy way to add protein to your diet isn’t always a bad thing.
Irish food expert Dr. Mark Hickey told Newsweek the key is getting protein in a balanced way.
“I don’t think we’re going to get more protein from a meal than we need, I think it’s a balanced diet,” he said.
“But I think we need to make sure that the foods that we are eating are not just protein, but are also balanced and balanced in a healthy way.”
Dr. Hickey has a theory about the health benefits of protein: It can help regulate blood sugar.
“You can see that if you consume high protein food, blood sugar goes up,” he explained.
“This is because high protein is the only source of protein you are going to find in your diet.”
The health benefits to eating high protein, Hickey said, are “very clear.”
He added that high protein also helps lower blood pressure, and “increases your metabolism and reduces your body fat.”
Dr Hickey added that the “healthiest way” to consume protein is in a low-fat diet, which also has a high protein content.
